Black Isle is the north of Scotland's largest agricultural show.

The 186th Black Isle Show has taken place in Muir of Ord in the Highlands.

Over its two days - Wednesday and Thursday - the north of Scotland's largest agricultural show drew a crowd of about 30,000 people.

Tom Henderson, president of Black Isle Farmers' Society which organises the event, said: "It's been fantastic.

"We've had a great attendance and a lot of exhibitors."

Sheep shearing demonstrations are a feature of the show.

Mr Henderson said entries to the livestock competitions were above average, which he said showed confidence in the Highlands' cattle and sheep sectors.

He added: "All agricultural shows are important for the industry.

"They give us a great shop window for the exhibitors and trade stands, but also the livestock."

Equestrian competitions are also a popular feature of the event.

The show was held on Wednesday and Thursday at Muir of Ord.

Black Isle Farmers' Society started its show as an event held on farms dotted across the peninsula.

Since the 1950s the show has been held in the village of Muir of Ord, near Inverness.

Over last 15 years the society has invested in improving the site with the laying of tarred roads and better toilets.

The show ground is close to where old drove roads, used for moving cattle across Scotland, met and a market was held.
