Man seriously injured in late-night assault

Police are investigating a violent attack that left a man with serious injuries outside a travel shop in St Peter Port.

The assault happened near Trafalgar Travel at about 23:20 GMT on Thursday night, according to Guernsey police who said the victim needed hospital treatment.

Officers are urging anyone who saw what happened, or noticed suspicious behaviour in the area, to come forward. Detectives are reviewing CCTV footage and following other leads.

A spokesperson said: "Identifying further witnesses is key to this investigation and we'd urge members of the public to come forward."
