Drivers are facing delays of up to 90 minutes on the M56 in Cheshire after an overturned lorry led to a fuel spill.

Two lanes are closed between junction 12 Runcorn and junction 14 Elton, causing seven miles of queues, National Highways said.

A lorry overturned on Wednesday night and lanes were closed to allow emergency workers to treat an oil and diesel spillage.

National Highways has advised motorists to allow extra time for their journeys.
