A 77-year-old widower could have been dead for about four months before his body was found in his home, an inquest has heard.

Michael Arthur Gilligan was found by police at his home Plaisant Court in St Helier last May after his landlord raised concerns for his welfare.

The inquest was told that he could have died at the end of January 2025, according to bank statements.

It heard that the cause of death "was not possible to ascertain" due to the extent of decomposition, and the circumstances were not being considered as suspicious.
