Police name man who died in car and lorry crash on A71

Abraham Torrance, from Kilmarnock, died in the crash on Thursday

A man who died after his car and a lorry crashed near Dreghorn in North Ayrshire has been named by police.

Abraham Torrance, from Kilmarnock, was driving a grey Kia Ceed on the A71 westbound between the Corsehillmount Roundabout and Warrix Interchange at about 11:10 on Thursday when the collision took place.

The 70-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. No-one else was injured.

Police Scotland has urged anyone with information on the crash to contact the force's non-emergency line.

The lorry involved was a white DAF HGV.

PC Josh Forrester said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Mr Torrance and inquiries to establish the full circumstances of the crash and the events leading up to it continue."
