Police said they found the suspected "chop shop" while on a routine patrol

A man has been arrested after police discovered a suspected "chop shop".

Officers in Church Street, Dudley, said they came across a car suspected of being linked to criminal activity near a yard while out on patrol on Sunday at about 13:00 GMT.

Several vehicles, reported as having been stolen from around the Midlands and further afield, were also discovered after a search, a spokesperson for the force said, and added that the vehicles had all been partially stripped, some with parts of their engines removed.

A 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods and was released on bail.

"Chop shops" are illegal garages linked to vehicle crime gangs and where stolen vehicles are dismantled for parts, the spokesperson added.
