Course set up to advise election candidates
PA MediaWould-be politicians considering standing in next year's Jersey general election can sign up for a new course to discover more about the role of States Members.
The six-week course will look at the roles successful candidates may take on and explain how the government and the assembly work, said Vote.je, the island's official election guide.
It said participants would also get tips about public speaking, dealing with the media, election advertising rules and how to stay safe online.
Anyone interested in the course, which begins on 28 January, was asked to email [email protected].
Jenny O'Brien, Vote.je's head of digital and public engagement, said the course was aimed at helping people considering making the "big decision" of standing for public office.
"Candidates often find themselves dealing with situations they're not used to or have not previously experienced, such as hustings," she said.
"We really want to ensure that anyone who's thinking about standing next June has the chance to learn more about what it involves, to help them navigate the election period and beyond."
The island's general election is set to take place on 7 June 2026.
