St Saviour park costs could drop by £900,000
BDK ArchitectsA parish leader said a new park is expected to cost about £900,000 less than the £3m budgeted.
The project at St Saviour in Jersey would redevelop two fields behind the parish hall.
Parishioners raised concerns about expensive materials, such as resin pathways and brick car parks, and questioned whether 32 parking spaces were necessary.
Constable of St Saviour Kevin Lewis said with a change of materials the final cost would be about £900,000 less than the budget and parishioners asked him to return with clearer financial details before giving the final go-ahead.
Lewis said: "I would be quite happy with a gravel car park and whatever gives best value for money."
Lewis also admitted a bike track suggested by some residents would not fit on the site.
"We will be looking for other sites because we want to keep youngsters safe and active," he said.
