A woman has been left with life-threatening head injuries after being hit by a car in Bradford city centre, police have said.

The 39-year-old was struck by a black Audi A3 on Princes Way about 20:40 GMT on Tuesday and West Yorkshire Police said she was taken to hospital, where she remains.

The driver, a man in his 20s, was later arrested for causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop.

A force spokesperson added: "We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or the movements of the driver and pedestrian prior to contact us."
