Fire which led to flats evacuation treated as deliberate

A fire at flats in Aberdeen which led to the evacuation of a number of residents is believed to have been started deliberately.

Emergency services were called to Powis Crescent at about 18:25 on Thursday.

Police Scotland said in a statement that a number of properties were evacuated as a precaution and alternative accommodation was arranged for residents.

It added: "The fire is being treated as wilful and inquiries are ongoing." There were no reports of any injuries.
