Murder arrest after man's 'unexplained' death
BBCA man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after another man died in a Devon city centre.
Devon and Cornwall Police said concerns were raised for the welfare of a 41-year-old man on Sidwell Street in Exeter at about 15:00 BST on Saturday.
The force said the man, who was found on a public stairwell between Efes Grill and Taco Bell, died at the scene and the cause of his death has been described as "unexplained".
The arrested man, aged in his 30s and from the Exeter area, has been released on bail. Police have asked anyone with information or relevant video footage to contact investigating officers or Crimestoppers.
Det Insp Michelle Westlake said: "Inquiries are ongoing into the circumstances surrounding this tragic death, the cause of which is currently unascertained.
"We are appealing for witnesses who live near or were present in the surrounding areas of the stairwell, or the roads leading to and from it, between approximately 13:15 and 15:15 on Saturday, 10 January.
"If you saw or heard anything which could assist our investigation, please get in touch."
