Young filmmakers in Kent are being offered the chance to devise, film and star in a feature-length medieval fantasy film.

About 40 young people will have the opportunity to work both in front of and behind the camera at the Stag Youth Theatre project, learning a range of skills and making new friends, according to the local council.

"This is by far the biggest project we've attempted," said Simon Cossons, who has run the Stag Youth Theatre for 16 years.

Sevenoaks Town Council said the £2,000 grant will fund props, costumes, location fees, staffing costs and film equipment.

Filming is scheduled to take place at locations across Kent between January and March 2026, it added.

A premiere is also planned at the Stag in Sevenoaks once the film is completed.

"We're excited to see what they produce," said councillor Chloe Gustard.

Stag Youth Theatre offers weekly workshops, productions, and film projects for people aged 11 to 18 years old.
