The Jersey Heart Team said Dr Jack Devin would focus on researching heart failure

A new researcher has joined the cardiology team at the Jersey General Hospital in a fellowship paid for by a heart disease support charity.

Jack Devin has been appointed as a digital research and innovation fellow, a new position the heart team said had been made possible by the "generous support" of the Jersey Heart Support Group.

The Jersey Heart Team said Dr Devin would focus on researching heart failure, improving patient experience and exploring how data and digital tools could improve services.

Dr Andrew Mitchell, the consultant cardiologist who leads the team, said the appointment was "an exciting step for cardiology in Jersey".

"He brings real enthusiasm and a strong interest in research and the use of technology and how it can help patients and clinicians," Dr Mitchell added.

As part of the fellowship, Dr Devin will lead and contribute to clinical trials related to heart failure and a review of wearable technology and its role in predicting decompensated heart failure.

Dr Devin said Jersey was "uniquely placed to test, refine and scale new ideas" and he was keen to "test tools that are innovative, ethical and impactful".
