Two men have been hit by a car in a suspected deliberate attack in Leeds city centre, police said.

Officers were called just before 06:00 GMT on Saturday to Swinegate, where men aged 40 and 56 had been hit by a black Vauxhall Insignia estate, West Yorkshire Police said.

The vehicle was believed to have been deliberately driven at them following an earlier altercation nearby, police said.

The men were taken to hospital for treatment and their injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

A cordon was in place earlier while investigations took place and the vehicle was recovered from the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is urged to contact police.
