Couple with hypothermia rescued from Peak District

A couple with hypothermia were rescued from a "notoriously difficult" Peak District path after getting lost.

Kinder Mountain Rescue Team said it was called at about 17:30 GMT after the pair had walked from Edale to Kinder Downfall.

After encountering problems along the plateau, the couple used a smartphone satellite SOS system to find their location and alert rescuers.

The 20-strong team found the couple "were becoming mildly hypothermic" when they arrived.

The rescue team helped the couple recover so they could walk back down to safety.

"The conditions on Kinder were very cold with patches of snow and ice still remaining on the tops," the rescue team said.

"The path across the plateau is notoriously difficult and indistinct."
