Army bomb disposal officers have made safe a "suspicious item" discovered by contractors while clearing a property in Bradford.

West Yorkshire Police said officers had been called to an address in Sunbridge Road shortly after 09:30 GMT when the item was found.

The force said a cordon had been put in place around the building as a precaution, with the road closed between Grattan Street and Tetley Street.

A police spokesperson said the Army's bomb disposal unit had since "made the item safe" and the cordon had been lifted at about 17:00.
