Man stabbed and doused in boiling water during row
North Yorkshire PoliceA man who threw boiling water in a teenager's face before stabbing him twice when he intervened in an argument has been jailed.
Alexander Decker, 30, attacked the 18-year-old at a flat in Chatsworth Grove, Harrogate, following an altercation with three other people on 1 December.
North Yorkshire Police said when they arrived at the scene Decker had approached officers and said: "Take me away, I'm going to jail."
Decker, of Chatsworth Grove, was jailed for eight and a half years at York Crown Court on Wednesday after admitting causing grievous bodily harm with intent, assault, possession of a bladed weapon and threatening a person with a bladed article.
Det Con Thomas Bowman said: "This was an appalling act of violence that left the victim with serious injuries.
"Thanks to the swift response of officers, bravery of witnesses and victims, we were able to secure vital evidence and bring the offender to justice.
"There is absolutely no excuse for using a knife to commit violence. Sadly, this case highlights once again the devastating impact knife crime can have."
