Newlyn's annual raft race made quite a splash at the weekend
People flocked to the shoreline to see the homemade rafts

Dozens of colourful raft racing teams lit up a Cornish fishing port to raise money for the town's Christmas lights and fireworks display.

Hundreds of people watched Newlyn's annual raft race at the weekend, supported by Penzance Council and Penlee Lifeboat.

The children's race was won by a team made up of sons and daughters of local firefighters and support staff from Penzance Fire Station.

The Red Lion pub won the main race in their home-made vessel Titanic II, beating last year's winners HMS Connor.
