The Government of Jersey may acquire land for the St Saviour health campus

Land acquisitions are still needed for a proposed mental health facility, according to Jersey's health minister.

Deputy Tom Binet said in an update to Scrutiny "extensive engagement" had taken place in recent months to advance plans for the Kensington Place Ambulatory Facility and the St Saviour Health Village.

The sites are planned alongside the development of the £710m Overdale Acute Hospital.

Privately owned fields in St Saviour had been earmarked as a potential site for the health village and in the update Binet indicated the land was still required and any acquisition would be transparent.

Binet said in a letter: "At this stage, no information has been collected or reviewed to suggest that the land acquisition is not necessary.

"Engagement with neighbours and residents will recommence once updated proposals are available."

The health minister said subject to confirmation the St Saviour site was expected to have rehabilitation, step-down care, dementia services, mental health inpatient facilities and associated therapies.

He said work had been carried out to "confirm the scope of services to be provided at each site" and to "review the demand and capacity modelling which will underpin the design development".

Further consultation was expected over coming months, he added.
