A man has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting police officers and drug offences after an incident in Coventry.

Officers stopped and searched a man in his 20s in the city on Thursday, after spotting him acting suspiciously, West Midlands Police said.

The man tried to run away while being detained and assaulted two officers, the force said, adding that more than 60 wraps of suspected Class A drugs and cannabis were found in his possession.

He was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply as well as assault and remains in custody.

Officers later searched an address in Radford, where they recovered about £1,500 in cash, as well as CS gas and a Taser, along with more suspected drugs and drug paraphernalia.
