Daniel Black was jailed for seven years after he was found guilty of raping a woman

A former soldier who raped a woman at her home after spending the evening with her has been jailed.

Daniel Black, 37, attacked the victim when he went to her home in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, in March 2023.

He was medically discharged from the armed forces during the investigation. In July last year, he denied charges of raping of a woman over the age of 16 and assaulting a woman by penetration.

Black, of Arkwright Park, Hull, was found guilty of both charges in September and was sentenced to seven years in prison at Birmingham Crown Court on Friday.

He was also added to the sex offenders register indefinitely and was given an indefinite restraining order preventing him from contacting the victim.

Det Con Heath Keogh, of Warwickshire Police, said: "Although no sentence can compare to the impact this has had on the victim, I'd like to commend them for the bravery they've shown throughout the investigation."
