Tiffany Regis died from the effects of smoke inhalation after flames tore through a flat

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with manslaughter following the death of a teenage girl in a suspected arson attack at an east London block of flats nearly three years ago.

Tiffany Regis, 15, died from the effects of smoke inhalation after flames engulfed a second-floor flat in Tollgate Road, Beckton, on 6 April 2023.

The boy, who was charged on Tuesday, is also accused of arson and arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered.

He has been bailed to appear at Stratford Magistrates' Court on 24 February.

The Metropolitan Police previously said a number of people were in the flat when the fire started at about 17:30 BST.

Five other people were injured but were later discharged from hospital.
