Dog walker named in attempted murder investigation

The family of the victim in an attempted murder investigation say they are "devastated" after she was found unconscious while walking her dog.

Anita Rose, 57, was found lying on a track off Rectory Lane in Brantham, near Ipswich, on Wednesday with serious head injuries and she remained in a critical condition in hospital.

She had left her house at 05:00 BST to walk her springer spaniel named Bruce, Suffolk Police said.

The force has issued pictures of her in the missing pink jacket that she had been wearing and they want to trace it along with her mobile phone that is also missing.

"Mum is a local woman who walked her beloved dog every day," Ms Rose's family said in a statement.

"As a family we are devastated and thank the public for their support so far.

"If anyone has any information, please come forward and speak to the police."

Specialist officers were supporting Ms Rose's family.

The force has said Ms Rose was found by a member of the public and was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, where she remained.

Detectives previously said treating it as an attempted murder allowed them to draw on a wealth of resources.

They said the pink jacket was made of waterproof material of they type made by an outdoor clothing brand, possibly Regatta.

Officers believed the jacket and her Apple iPhone could hold key information or evidence.

Forensic work, searches, house-to-house inquiries and CCTV analysis were being carried out, the force said.
