Police said a man in his 80s suffered serious injuries in the crash on Crewe Road, Sandbach

An elderly man has suffered serious injuries in a crash involving a Lamborghini near a school in Cheshire.

The black-coloured car crashed with a red Vauxhall Viva close to Sandbach School on Crewe Road, Sandbach, shortly after 10:00 GMT on Thursday.

The driver of the Vauxhall, a man in his 80s, was seriously injured in the incident, Cheshire Police said.

A spokesperson confirmed the road had been closed between Middlewich Road and Park Lane while officers investigated the scene.

Sandbach School said on Facebook that the crash did not involve members of the school community.
