Arrest over death of man, 63, found on city street

An investigation is under way and an arrest has been made after a man died on a Coventry street.

The 63-year-old was found seriously injured on Clayton Road on Saturday evening, but died at the scene despite the efforts of paramedics.

West Midlands Police were called to the scene at about 20:10 GMT, and a 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and drink-driving.

Inquiries were ongoing to establish the exact circumstances and the investigation was in an early stage, the force said, adding that the victim's family were being supported.
