A free family event to celebrate the importance of the early years stage is taking place in Guernsey.

The Joyous Childhood Family event, hosted by the States Early Years Team, will return on 17 January from 09:30 GMT to at Les Beaucamps High School.

The States of Guernsey said it hoped the day would raise awareness of how early childhood experiences shaped brain development and future outcomes.

There would be more than 25 stall-holders at the event, with each local agency sharing activities designed to support early development, it added.

Ruth Sharp, head of Early Years, said: "We look forward to welcoming children under five, their parents and guardians to the Joyous Childhood Family event.

"As well as being enormous fun, the day promises to be a chance to get tips, insights, support and ideas to help give our children the best possible start in life.

"We are grateful to all the local agencies who have collaborated with the States Early Years team to make the event possible."
