Man jailed for sex act near children's play area
Cambridgeshire PoliceA man who breached a court order and committed a sexual act near a children's play area has been jailed.
Gary Smith, 52, was seen by a member of the public near the play area in Fletton, Peterborough, on 31 July. Cambridgeshire Police said he was arrested after officers found him lying down with his trousers and belt undone.
Smith was previously given a criminal behaviour order (CBO) running until 2029, which prohibited him from entering public parks. He admitted breaching the order but initially denied a charge of outraging public decency.
At Cambridge Crown Court, Smith, of no fixed address, changed his plea to guilty on the second charge and has been jailed for 22 months.
The park is bordered by Oundle Road, Grove Street and Queens Walk and it features a play area, basketball court and skatepark.
PC Millie Pinguenet said: "Smith's behaviour was blatant and absolutely disgusting.
"He knew the criteria of his CBO but simply chose to ignore them. I'm pleased he has appeared in court and been jailed for his actions."
