Road closures, diversions and free parking will be in place in Camborne from Monday as part of a scheme to improve the town's appearance.

The second phase of works are part of a town deal scheme to improve access for pedestrians and cyclists and support the local economy by encouraging people to spend more time in the town.

The first phase started in November within New Connexion Street, while the second phase will be focussed at Commercial Street and around the town square, requiring several short-term road closures.

One hour of free parking is being provided at the Rosewarne car parks while work takes place.

New seating, greenery, a new zebra crossing at Fore Street and improved pedestrian crossings throughout Trelowarren Street will be added as part of the scheme.

It will also include cycle parking, enhanced lighting, CCTV and extending on-street free parking at the top of Trelowarren Street from 30 minutes to one hour.

Works will continue through into the spring, with plans being developed to ensure the road is clear and open for Trevithick Day on 26 April.

Remaining works are due to be completed by the end of May.
