Last year's Tiree Music Festival contributed £1.6m to the Hebridean island's economy, according to a new report.

The event's organisers said it was the highest figure in its 15-year history, and the economic impact assessment by MKA Economics also showed a total contribution of £11m since 2010.

The summer festival more than triples the island's population of about 653 people.

Artistic director Daniel Gillespie said the music event was kept deliberately small, but added that it "punched above its weight".

The festival is located close to a beach and features a mix of traditional and contemporary music.

The line-up for the 15th anniversary event on 10 to 12 July has still to be announced. Sandi Thom, Toploader, The Fratellis and Julie Fowlis have performed in previous years.

In 2023, the event was cancelled the day before performances were due to begin because of extreme weather.
