Engineers will close parts of Le Mont de Gouray in St Martin from late January as major electricity upgrades continue.

Jersey Electricity (JE) said the work around Gorey was needed to keep up with rising demand and to make the local network more reliable.

The project will run in three phases, starting on 29 January and finishing in early April, with each phase involving excavation work and temporary road closures.

"This investment into our infrastructure is essential to enhance the reliability and efficiency of our electricity supply system," said JE.

Access to some properties would be limited at times, although parking would be kept available where possible, said JE.

Businesses would stay open and drivers would face diversions throughout each phase, it added.

"We aim to minimise disruption and complete tasks promptly. We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding," it said.

JE is encouraging anyone with concerns to get in touch by email at [email protected] or by calling 01534 505460.

Updates will also appear on its roadworks page.
