Recording studio plans given approval
Newcastle City CouncilPlans to convert an Edwardian building into a £1.8m recording studio have been approved.
Newcastle City Council said the conversion of the Grade II listed Coronation Buildings on Quayside was under way and would also see the creation of podcasting studios and editing suites.
The plans were announced in a joint statement by record label Warner Music UK and music development agency Generator last year.
It will be paid for by the North East Combined Authority (NECA) using money from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, with support from Newcastle City Council. A completion date of April 2026 has been suggested.
