Woman 'critically injured' after van hit-and-run
GoogleA 40-year-old woman was left critically injured after a hit-and-run in Wakefield, prompting a police appeal.
West Yorkshire Police said the collision happened near the Aagrah restauranton the A61 Barnsley Road at about 17:50 GMT on Tuesday.
A silver Maxus Deliver 9 van hit the woman and failed to stop at the scene, the force said.
A 43-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
The woman "initially tried to walk" with the help of a passing member of the public but now remains in hospital in a critical condition.
Det Insp Paul Conroy said: "We know the area was busy, but people may not have realised the seriousness of what had happened at the time.
"I am appealing to anyone who might have any relevant footage or who saw the van being driven before or after the collision to contact us on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers."
