Norwich City Football Club sent its "heartfelt condolences" to the supporter's family

A Norwich City fan died after collapsing at the club's third-round FA Cup fixture on Sunday.

The club said the home supporter, who was in their 80s, suffered a medical emergency shortly after the final whistle against Walsall at Carrow Road.

A spokesperson thanked medical staff, stewards and nearby supporters for assisting during the incident, and said it would "ensure those involved receive the appropriate care".

"Everyone at Norwich City would like to send their heartfelt condolences to the supporter's family and friends," the club added.

The statement said the club would work with police to provide support "at this distressing time".

Norfolk Police said that despite paramedics carrying out treatment, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A file has been passed to the coroner and the death is not thought to be suspicious, police added.

The news was met with hundreds of supportive comments from football fans and groups, as well as Walsall supporters and East Anglian rivals Ipswich Town.

One wrote that the emergency services had attended the incident in the Regency Stand very quickly.

Walsall FC also posted on X: "The thoughts of everyone at Walsall Football Club are with the individual's family and friends at this most difficult time."
