Plan for 60 homes approved after government appeal
North Northamptonshire CouncilA plan to demolish former farm buildings to make way for 60 new homes has been approved at appeal.
Grace Homes wants to build the properties at Stanton Cross, near Wellingborough, which would form part of a larger 3,650-home development.
North Northamptonshire Council's planning committee rejected the proposal in March 2024 but the developer appealed.
The government's Planning Inspectorate said there were no reasonable grounds not to proceed with the project.
GooglePlanning officers at North Northamptonshire Council initially advised the committee to approve the plans.
But councillors felt the development lacked the supporting infrastructure and enough affordable housing.
Following the successful appeal, the developer is expected to make financial contributions for education, libraries, sports facilities and healthcare in the area as part of a section 106 agreement.
