A 15-year-old boy has suffered serious injuries after being hit by a car near a junction in Sheffield.

The teenager was walking on Northfield Road, near the junction with Heavygate Road, at about 20:45 GMT on Saturday when he was struck by a blue Ford Fiesta, according to South Yorkshire Police.

The driver of the car stayed at the scene and was co-operating with the investigation, a force spokesperson added.

Police said the teenager remained in hospital and asked anyone who witnessed the incident to get in touch.
