A 23-year-old man has been charged following a machete confrontation near a Christmas market in Nottingham city centre.

Nottinghamshire Police said it responded to reports of disorder between two groups on e-bikes near Old Market Square on 16 November.

Daniel Drazewski, of Norwood Road, Nottingham, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on Thursday charged with violent disorder and possessing a knife or bladed article in a public place.

Mr Drazewski is due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 15 January.

Ch Supt Nick Waldram said: "We are fully aware the impact this incident had on members of the public at the time.

"We hope this charging decision will offer the public some reassurance."
