A woman who killed another woman in Aberdeen after they confronted each other over infidelity claims has been jailed for 10 years.

Dionne Wilson, 31, was told by a judge that she should have the fatal attack on Sara Irvine, 34, on her conscience for the rest of her life.

Wilson was sentenced at the High Court in Livingston after a jury earlier cleared her of murder but found her guilty of the lesser charge of culpable homicide.

Judge Lord Mulholland told Wilson she had failed to seek help for her victim after attacking her at a "crack den" and had shown no remorse.

Wilson, who lodged a special defence of self-defence at the start of her trial, accepted that she had stabbed Irvine.

But she claimed she couldn't remember anything about the exact moment she inflicted the deadly blow.

Lord Mulholland told Wilson she had inflicted a "catastrophic" chest wound which had caused massive internal bleeding and led to cardiac arrest.

He said: "After you stabbed her, you did not wait to help her or get help for her or check on her wellbeing.

"You got out of the flat, discarded your bloody clothing and went home and washed your hair and body and put your bloody leggings in the washing machine."

The court heard that when officers eventually gained access to the flat, Wilson pretended to have been there all night with her boyfriend, whose movements were restricted as a result of a tag.

The judge continued: "You have shown no remorse for what you did.

"You went to the flat which was a crack den to score drugs and, following an exchange of words, you stabbed Sara Irvine to death.

"She didn't deserve what you did, and you will or should have this on your conscience for the rest of your life."

Lord Mullholland said she had "visited a life sentence of grief and loss to her friends, partner and family."

Wilson rejected claims by Irvine's boyfriend, Jason King, that he had had a sexual relationship with her

But the former drug addict said that Irvine became angry and was "very hostile" to her as a result of the allegation.

She said that Irvine threw her onto a couch at the house in Aberdeen's Tillydrone area moments before she was stabbed once in the chest on 17 April 2024.

Irvine's then boyfriend King, 32, said they had gone to the house that day to buy and smoke cannabis there.

The court heard that knives for cutting up narcotics were lying around the house .

King told how he witnessed Wilson stabbing his girlfriend of 18 months in the chest, describing the assault as "horrible to see".

He added: "She started choking on her blood.

"I seen the blood coming out of her chest.

"I saw it coming out of her mouth."

Wilson said she couldn't say why she picked up a weapon apart from wanting to get out of the situation.

Following the jury's guilty verdict, it emerged that Wilson had previously been convicted at Aberdeen Sheriff Court of assault with intent to rob and assault to injury.

Lord Mulholland told the killer the 10-year prison sentence would be backdated to 18 April 2024, when she was first remanded in custody.

He added: "Some free advice - you stay off drugs because it's not good for you."
