There were long delays on the M11 during rush hour as National Highways worked to resurface the road following the collision

A motorway was closed due to emergency resurfacing works.

The southbound M11 was shut between Loughton in Essex and Woodford, north London, after the collision at about 02:30 BST.

National Highways briefly reopened the road, but said it shut it again at 10:45 so resurfacing works could be "completed safely".

In an update shortly before 20:00 a spokesperson said it had been fully reopened.

"Traffic is now flowing freely with no reported delays," they added.
