Likhovtseva's last singles title came in 1997 but she remains a solid performer on the tour, and she is a world-class doubles player.
The Russian, whose best result at Roland Garros is reaching the third round four times, has already picked up two doubles titles this season.
In singles this year, her most impressive performance so far was at the German Open, on clay, where she made the quarter-finals before losing to Jennifer Capriati.
But the highlight of her career so far came at last year's Wimbledon.
She reached the quarter-finals in singles, beating fifth seed Kim Clijsters, and won her first Grand Slam title in the mixed doubles with Mahesh Bhupathi to capture her first Grand Slam title.
