It could be argued that Capriati has suffered most from the emergence of the Williams sisters in women's tennis, with the Floridian title-less since last year's Australian Open.
Since the beginning of the 2002 season, Capriati, regarded by many as one of only a handful of players capable of competing with the all-conquering sisters, has lost all seven meetings with Serena including four finals.
But Capriati has happy memories of Roland Garros, having won there in 2001 after one of the best Grand Slam finals in history, when she fought off Kim Clijsters 12-10 in the final set.
Her form this year has been consistent, if not outstanding, and she has reached two semi-finals and a quarter-final on clay without going onto win a title.
However, with some of the most impressive fighting qualities in the game, Capriati is one of the front-runners for the title.
