Teenager Zvonareva has already achieved what her much-hyped Russian compatriot Anna Kournikova has yet to do - winning her first title in April.
That victory was just reward for a vast improvement by the 18-year-old baseliner.
Having broken into the top 100 last season, she began 2003 by reaching the quarter-finals in Auckland.
In April, she reached the last eight on clay in Charleston, defeating Patty Schnyder in the second round, and at the German Open, also on clay, she reached her fifth quarter-final of the season with a win over world number 15 Eleni Daniilidou.
Zvonareva has happy memories of Roland Garros - having made a stunning debut last year.
Having come through qualifying, she reached the fourth round where she took the first set against eventual winner Serena Williams, before falling in three.
