Although she is principally renowned for her achievements in doubles, Raymond has been a steady performer in singles.

The American has an incredible 38 doubles titles to her name, plus six Grand Slam titles, but she has also picked up four singles trophies.

Her current world ranking owes much to consecutive titles at Memphis - but earlier this year she made the semi-finals of a high-quality Tokyo field by beating Jelena Dokic.

Raymond's attacking game is best-suited to hard and grass courts and her record at the French Open is poor - although she did reach the fourth round there in 1997, her best ever year on tour.
