Get to know Howard

Howard is a self-employed musician originally from the Midlands, but moved to Manchester with his band three years ago to try and make a career for themselves. When he first moved, he struggled to make enough money to eat. He currently works teaching ukulele, guitar, bass and singing to children around schools in Manchester. He also runs a real life ‘School of Rock’ where he gets children together with a bunch of instruments and they all play in a band. Very commendable Howard - you are our very own Jack Black.

Quick-fire with Howard

Celebrity resemblance? “I’ve been told Jared Leto, but that’s not realistic, I look nothing like him! Also, Gary Barlow?”

Most embarrassing moment? “When I went on the first date with my girlfriend to see a band, I tripped over a curb in front of the queue outside of the venue and rolled into the road, but somehow rolled right back into a standing position and just pretended it didn’t happen. It was like a choreographed performance!”

If you could invent any musical gadget, what would it be? “I would invent the “Auto-Tune Realiser”, a gadget that could strip the performer of auto-tune, to hear how some pop stars really sound like.”

Weirdest food you have ever eaten? “Grapenuts. Honestly, go find some… it’s like eating the crumbs from the toaster!”

Phobias? “Snakes, it’s completely irrational too. I think a combination of terrible films and TV have contributed to this phobia!”

Bad habits? “Yes…. biting my nails, and touching my beard too much!”

Embarrassing parent or dancing legend?
