Sheena McHugh

Sheena started singing aged 12, but a near-fatal car crash in 2010 put a two year hold on Sheena’s music career. She broke her back, ruptured her spleen and perforated her bowel, and at one stage she wasn’t sure if she would be able to walk again. Crikey! Now she has fully recovered (yay!) she is back working as a barmaid and as a singing teacher for kids. Sheena also gigs a lot, but is sick of doing cover songs and is ready for people to hear who she is as an artist. Her boyfriend is her number one fan and also doubles up as her roadie. He goes to all of her gigs, helps her set up and then watches from the front row. (He is definitely a keeper, Sheena!)

Celebrity impressions: “I can do an okay Celine Dion impression.”

When and where was your first public performance? “It was at the checkout in a big supermarket - my dad made me sing for my sweets!”

What was the last lie that you told and got away with? “I purchased yet another pair of shoes and lied that I hadn’t bought anything. I hid them in the wardrobe and then did the same thing the very next day!”

Party trick: “I can move my eyeballs in directions they shouldn’t move in.”

If money and reality were no object, what would you be doing right now? “I would have a pet unicorn and a wardrobe that leads to Narnia. I would go to space (on my unicorn) and also, have longer legs.”
