Classroom Ideas
Students could use this clip to further explore the idea of cause and effect, and in particular reflect on how a small cause can have a great and even harmful effect. Present students with a number of causes such as dropping litter, not looking at traffic lights or silly behaviour at the side of road, and ask them to discuss (in groups) what the possible effects could be. Ask students to assess the severity of the effects from these small causes.
Students could also consider cause and effect in the classroom environment; for example what is the effect of running in the classroom, breaking someone’s possessions or talking during a lesson? They could then explore what could be done to avoid these effects, and discuss classroom rights and responsibilities. These could be used to create a class charter which everyone agrees to adhere to.
