Kyle Lightbourne opened the scoring on the half hour with a pinpoint lob from 25 yards that left Barnsley keeper Andy Marriott stranded. Home goalkeeper Steve Wilson then pulled off a succession of excellent stops but could do nothing to prevent Isaiah Rankin levelling matters. Whitaker scored his first after 106 minutes and added another 60 seconds later. He delivered the final blow in the closing seconds after an unselfish pass from Steve Hitchin gave him the chance to notch his hat-trick with a 20-yard drive.
