| Tuesday, 10 September, 2002, 21:08 GMT 22:08 UK Oldham 3-2 Notts County Oldham were made to fight all the way before making it to the second round of the Worthington Cup with victory over Notts County at Boundary Park. They had comfortably beaten County 3-1 in the Nationwide League three days earlier but found the going a lot tougher at home. Oldham took the lead after 10 minutes when Chris Killen, a scorer at Meadow Lane on Saturday, again found the net. But County equalised five minutes later when Richard Liburd set up an opening for Mark Stallard. The home side snatched back the lead on the stroke of half-time with Tony Carss' first goal of the season. The visitors though were far from finished and it was all-square again in the 75th minute when substitute Paul Heffernan grabbed a second equaliser. Oldham made sure of victory when Dutch striker Clyde Wijnhard shot home from a yard out 10 minutes from the end to ease the nerves and give his side the lead for a third time.
