After reaching his first final in Buenos Aires last year, Calleri has followed the example of so many of his countrymen by becoming a fixture in the world's top 50.

And that does not appear to be the limit of the 26 year old's ambitions after a strong start to 2003.

Calleri claimed his first title in Acapulco and followed it up with a run to the final in Estoril, and a semi-final spot in Barcelona.

He then topped that by reaching the final of the Hamburg Masters, where he was beaten by compatriot Guillermo Coria.

Significantly, the Argentine's best results have all come on clay.

The next step is to make an impact at Grand Slam level, and he has so far failed to make it past the third round at any of the major tournaments.

But Calleri will be one of a number of Argentines heading to Paris in confident mood.
