Srichaphan stormed into the world's top 20 with a stunning burst of form in the second half of 2002, and has just about kept up the momentum this year.

With so much more now expected of the Thai, his results were relatively disappointing after winning the first tournament of the year in Chennai, India.

But things got back on track with a run to the semi-finals of the Miami Masters, and it is certainly on hard courts that the 23-year-old produces his best.

Clay remains something of a mystery, with Srichaphan yet to produce a significant win on the surface, although victory over Thomas Enqvist at Roland Garros last year was encouraging.

However, it is in the second half of the year with the European clay-court season over that he picks up most of his ranking points.
