Ferreira will rubber stamp his position as the tour's veteran player when takes part in this 50th consecutive Grand Slam at Roland Garros.
It is the longest streak among active players and he is closing in on Stefan Edberg's record of 54.
And far from winding down his career, the South African is in better shape than ever.
Ferreira reached his first Grand Slam semi-final in Australia in January and has been close to the top 10 in the ATP Champions Race all year.
He then beat Gustavo Kuerten on his way to the last eight in the Hamburg Masters on clay.
His record in Paris is not good - just one fourth-round appearance in 11 attempts - but no-one will relish playing the 31-year-old.
Famed for his often belligerent fighting spirit, and with a forehand that still packs a punch, Ferreira could still be a threat.
